Assembly Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 GMC Acadia, 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2016 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Prior to reassembling the strut components, apply a small amount of lubricant to the strut rod and the inside of the jounce bumper. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  2. Install the coil spring and upper strut mount to the J 45400  Strut Spring Compressor.

  4. Turn the spring compressor forcing screw (1) until the coil spring is compressed.
  5. Install the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount.
  6. Loosely install the strut retaining nut.
  7. Using a socket or a wrench hold the strut rod.
  8. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  9. With the wrench or socket holding the strut rod, use the J 42991  Strut Rod Nut Socket and a torque to install the upper strut mount nut. Tighten the strut mount nut to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
  10. Remove the strut from the J 45400  Strut Spring Compressor.
  11. Install the strut to the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Removal and Installation .
