Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: NEW Steering Gear Boot Inner Clamp

  1. Install a NEW steering gear boot inner clamp (1) loosely on the steering gear boot (2).
  2. Install the steering gear boot (2) on the steering gear.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. From the engine compartment, use the J-22610  pliers to secure the NEW steering gear boot inner clamp (1).
  5. Raise the vehicle.

  6. Install the steering gear boot outer clamp (2).
  7. Install the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1).
  8. Install the steering linkage outer tie rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
  9. If servicing the right side steering gear boot, install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  10. If servicing the left side steering gear boot, install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
