Accessory DC Power Control Module Scan Tool Information

The accessory DC power control module is also referred to as the 14V power module. The scan tool 14V Power Module Data List is accessed from the scan tool Hybrid Powertrain Control Module Data Display and contains hybrid controls-related parameters.

Use the scan tool 14V Power Module Data List only after the following is determined:

The scan tool values from a properly running vehicle may be used for comparison with the vehicle you are diagnosing. The 14V Power Module Scan Tool Data Parameters table represents values that would be seen on a normally running vehicle. The list is arranged in alphabetical order.

NOTE: A scan tool that displays faulty data should not be used. The scan tool concern should be reported to the manufacturer. Use of a faulty scan tool can result in misdiagnosis and unnecessary parts replacement.

Only the parameters listed below are referenced in this service manual for use in diagnosis. If all values are within the typical range described below, refer to Symptoms - Hybrid Controls for diagnosis.

14 V Power Module Scan Tool Data Parameters

Parameter System State Expected Value Description
Operating Conditions:  Vehicle ON/Closed Throttle/Park or Neutral/Accessories OFF, unless otherwise noted
14V Power Module High Voltage Circuit Current - Varies Indicates the high voltage circuit current as detected by the 14V power module. The range is from -1638.4 to +1638.35 Amps. This is an indication of the power being consumed by the module.
14V Power Module Power Loss - Varies The 14V power module converts high voltage (300V) direct current (DC) to low voltage (12V) DC for accessory electrical operation and to charge the 12V battery. This parameter indicates the difference in power (power loss) between the input power and the output power of the 14V power module. The power loss is determined based upon High Voltage current and voltage, Low Voltage current and voltage and Intermediate Voltage current and voltage measurements from the 14V power module internal sensors.
14V Power Module Setpoint - Varies This is the target, expressed in percent, the 14V power module will try to maintain while operating the system.
14V Power Module Setpoint - Varies This is the target voltage the 14V power module will try to maintain while operating the system.
14V Power Module Status - Normal This contains the control status of the 14V power module as determined by the body control module.
14V Power Module Temperature Sensor 1 - Varies Indicates the temperature of the 14V power module at temperature sensor 1.
14V Power Module Temperature Sensor 2 - Varies Indicates the temperature of the 14V power module at temperature sensor 2.
Drive Motor 1 Inverter Status - Active Indicates the status of drive motor 1 motor control module.
Drive Motor 2 Inverter Status - Active Indicates the status of drive motor 2 motor control module.
ECT Sensor - Varies Indicates the temperature of engine coolant temperature sensor.
High Voltage Circuit Enable Command - Varies Indicates if the battery charger has requested the assistance of the 14V power module in charging the 12V battery.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Current - Varies Indicates the hybrid/EV battery pack current measured on the high voltage bus. A negative current value indicates a battery charge while a positive current value indicates a battery discharge.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack State of Charge - Varies Indicates the hybrid/EV battery pack State Of Charge as calculated by the ECM.
Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module High Voltage Circuit - Varies This displays the high voltage circuit voltage as detected by the hybrid/EV powertrain control module 1 which detects voltage in a range from 0-655.35 V.
IAT Sensor - Varies Indicates the temperature of engine intake air temperature sensor.
Ignition 1 Signal - Varies This parameter displays the voltage of the ignition feed circuit of the hybrid/EV powertrain control module 1.
Ignition Input Accessory - Active Indicates whether the accessory hardwire input to the controller is active.
Ignition Input Off/On/Start - Active Indicates whether the off/on/start signal is active.
Low-Voltage Circuit Current - Varies Indicates the amount of current supplied to the 12V battery as detected by the 14V power module.
Low-Voltage Circuit Enable Command - Yes Indicates if the low voltage circuit is enabled.
Low-Voltage Circuit Enable Conditions Met - No Indicates that the required minimum voltage is present at the 14V power module 14V terminal prior to enabling output.
Low-Voltage Circuit Voltage - Varies Indicates the actual voltage of the low voltage (12V) circuit as detected by the 14V power module. The range is from 0-25.5 V.
14V Power Module

Control Functions Description
14V Power Module Set Point
  • The hybrid/EV powertrain control module 1 commands the 14V power module to convert high voltage (300V) to low voltage (12V).
  • The hybrid/EV powertrain control module 1 commands the 14V power module to maintain between 12.5-15.5V on the 12V circuit.
  • When the vehicle is ON and high voltage is enabled, this control has a 10 minute elapsed time limit for the current ignition cycle.
