Pedestrian Impact Detection Sensor Replacement - Front Upper Beam

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the pedestrian impact detection system. Pedestrian Impact Detection System Disabling and Enabling 
  2. Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement
1 Pedestrian Impact Detection Sensor

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Carefully remove the pedestrian impact detection sensor from the front bumper fascia energy absorber.
  3. Enable the pedestrian impact detection system. Pedestrian Impact Detection System Disabling and Enabling 
NOTE:
  • Inspect the absorber / EA foam for any cracks or damage and inspect pedestrian sensor tube for any cuts or puncture holes.
  • Replace front bumper fascia or sensor system if any damage is found. This can cause faulty readings with the pedestrian impact sensor.
  • The pedestrian sensor is a press fit into the absorber.
