Circuit / System Testing
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K82 Mobile Telephone Control Module and the harness connector at the X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil.
- Test for infinite resistance between the circuits listed below and ground.
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 2
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 3
- If less than infinite resistance
Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the circuits listed below end to end.
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 2
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 3
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - low reference terminal circuit 5
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Test for less than 1 V in the circuits listed below and ground.
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 2
- X85 Steering Wheel Air Bag Coil - signal circuit terminal 3
- If 1 V or greater
Repair the short to voltage in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Test or replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Verify the steering wheel control switches operate properly
- If the steering wheel control switches do not operate properly
Replace the K82 Mobile Telephone Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the steering wheel control switches operates properly
- If the steering wheel control switches do not operate properly
- All OK
