Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, wait for the system to complete the automatic initialization check. This may take up to 10 seconds. Record any failure messages.
  2. Press and hold the steering wheel (PHONE/SEND) switch for at least 5 seconds. The system will begin to play a verbal prompt.
  3. While the prompt is playing, press and hold the steering wheel (PHONE/END) switch until you hear the "Diagnostics mode" prompt. The system will sound a 5 second beep.
  4. While the beep is sounding, press and hold the steering wheel (PHONE/END) switch again until you hear prompts. Results of the diagnostic checks will be verbalized. Record any failure messages.
  5. After any failure records are reported, an interactive microphone test will be performed. Follow the voice prompt.
  6. Verify the audio from the Bluetooth ® system is heard clearly.
    • If the audio from the Bluetooth ® system is not heard clearly 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing- Bluetooth ® Audio following below.

    • Go to next step: If the audio from the Bluetooth ® system is heard clearly 
  7. Verify no failure messages are reported.
    • If failure messages are reported 
    1. Verify the failure message is not INTERNAL FAILURE
      • If the failure message is INTERNAL FAILURE, replace the K82 Mobile Telephone Control Module.
      • Go to next step: If the failure message is not INTERNAL FAILURE
    2. Verify the failure message is not Bluetooth ® ANTENNA OPEN or Bluetooth ® ANTENNA SHORTED
      • If the failure message is Bluetooth ® ANTENNA OPEN or Bluetooth ® ANTENNA SHORTED, refer to Circuit/System Testing- Bluetooth ® Antenna following below.
      • Go to next step: If the failure message is not Bluetooth ® ANTENNA OPEN or Bluetooth ® ANTENNA SHORTED
    3. Verify the failure message is not PHONE/SEND FOR HANDS-FREE SYSTEM IS STUCK or PHONE/END FOR HANDS-FREE SYSTEM IS STUCK
      • Go to next step: If the failure message is not PHONE/SEND FOR HANDS-FREE SYSTEM IS STUCK or PHONE/END FOR HANDS-FREE SYSTEM IS STUCK
    4. Verify the failure message is not MICROPHONE TEST
      • If the failure message is MICROPHONE TEST, refer to Circuit/System Testing- Microphone following below.
      • Go to next step: If the failure message is not MICROPHONE TEST
    • Go to next step: If no failure messages are reported 
    NOTE:

    Verify the device being used for testing is capable of the Bluetooth ® feature(s) related to the customer concern.

  8. Verify the infotainment system successfully pairs with a compatible mobile device.
    • If the infotainment system does not successfully pair with a mobile device 
    1. Attempt to pair another mobile device.
      • If the infotainment system cannot pair with any mobile device, replace the K82 Mobile Telephone Control Module.
      • Go to next step: If the infotainment system successfully pairs with the mobile device
    2. The malfunction is related to the mobile device.
    • Go to next step: If the infotainment system successfully pairs with the mobile device 
  9. Verify the infotainment system performs the desired feature using the mobile device.
    • If the feature does not function correctly 
    1. Pair another mobile device.
    2. Verify the infotainment system performs the desired feature using the mobile device.
      • If the infotainment system cannot perform the desired feature with any mobile device, replace the K82 Mobile Telephone Control Module.
      • Go to next step: If the infotainment system successfully performs the desired feature.
    3. The malfunction is related to the mobile device.
    • Go to next step: If the feature functions correctly 
  10. All OK. Refer to Diagnostic Aids.
