SBSA Detection Zones

The side blind spot alert system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect moving vehicles in forward gear at speeds between 10 km/h (6 mph) and 140 km/h (87 mph). At speeds above 140 km/h (87 mph), the left and right side mirror side blind spot alert system displays are dimly lit. The side blind spot alert system sensor covers a zone of approximately one lane over from both sides of the vehicle, or 3 m (9 ft). The height of the zone is approximately between 0.3 m (1 ft) and 1.3 m (4 ft) off the ground. This zone starts at approximately the middle of the vehicle and goes back 3 m (9 ft). The distance at which objects can be detected may be less during warmer or humid weather.
