Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement

WARNING:

Fuel/gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

WARNING:

Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

NOTE:

High pressure fuel feed pipes are one time use only. ALWAYS install a NEW high pressure fuel feed pipe if the pipe is removed OR the fittings are loosened.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief 
  2. Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement 
1 Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe

Procedure

  1. Remove and DISCARD the pipe.
  2. Ensure ALL fittings are clean and dry prior to assembly.
  3. Lubricate the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings with silicon free engine oil.
  4. Tighten the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings in alternating increments.
  5. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
NOTE:

If a fuel leak occurs at the fuel pump or the fuel injection fuel rail fitting, the corresponding component will need to be replaced.


Tighten 
30 N.m (22 lb ft)
