Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Active Antenna (U77)

The diversity antenna system uses antennas applied as appliques to the rear glass and may use up to 2 antenna amplifiers. The right antenna amplifier receives both AM and FM signals, while the left antenna amplifier receives DAB signals only. The antenna amplifiers receive the signals from the glass antenna. Each antenna amplifier is connected to the radio by a coaxial cable.

The radio antenna amplifiers are enabled when the radio is turned on. The radio provides battery voltage to the antenna amplifiers using the center conductor of the antenna coaxial cable. When a 12 V signal is present on the center conductor of the antenna coax, the received signals are amplified.

When the AM band is selected on the radio, the antenna amplifier connects the AM antenna to the radio. When the FM band is selected, the antenna amplifier provides FM signals to the radio.

Spoiler Antenna (UB3)

The diversity antenna is integral to the spoiler on the rear decklid. The antenna amplifiers on the underside of the spoiler will receive either both AM/FM and DAB signals, while the other antenna amplifier receives FM2 signals from the antenna. The radio antenna amplifiers are enabled when the radio is turned on. The radio provides battery voltage to the antenna amplifiers using the center conductor of the antenna coaxial cable. When a 12 V signal is present on the center conductor of the antenna coax, the received signals are amplified.
