Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector:X83 Auxiliary Audio InputX1
  3. Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 3 & Ground
    • If 10 ohms or greater 
    1. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:Ground circuit terminal 3 & The other end of the circuit
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms 
  4. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 1 & Ground
    • If the test lamp does not turn On 
    1. Remove - Test Lamp
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:B+ circuit terminal 1 & The other end of the circuit
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 ohms - Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On 
  5. Poor connections or damaged USB cables can cause intermittent or no operation of USB devices. Inspect connectors, terminals, and cables for damage and replace components as necessary. Ensure all USB inline connections and connections at components are fully seated and connector position retainers/locks are secure.
    • If you detect any damage, replace the component. 
    • Go to next step: Visible Damage = None 
  6. Disconnect - USB Cable @ A11 Radio & X83 Auxiliary Audio Input
  7. Connect the following:EL-50334-2 USB Type A Female to Type B Mini Male Adapter & EL-50334-14 Infotainment Test Cable - Connect the special tool: @ A11 Radio & X83 Auxiliary Audio Input
  8. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode - Infotainment System State - ON
  9. Attempt audio playback from multiple USB devices when diagnosing USB concerns. Device compatibility can vary based on vehicle equipment. If the infotainment system is capable of operating any USB type device, the cause of the concern is not with the vehicle system. The inoperative device(s) may be incompatible or contain no recognized media types.
  10. Verify the component works as specified:Audio Output
    • If the component does not work as specified 
    1. Replace the component:X83 Auxiliary Audio Input - Connect all electrical connectors.
    2. Attempt audio playback from multiple USB devices when diagnosing USB concerns. Device compatibility can vary based on vehicle equipment. If the infotainment system is capable of operating any USB type device, the cause of the concern is not with the vehicle system. The inoperative device(s) may be incompatible or contain no recognized media types.
    3. Verify the component works as specified:Audio Output
      • If the component does not work as specified - Replace the component:A11 Radio
      • Go to next step: If the component works as specified
    4. All OK.
    • Go to next step: If the component works as specified 
  11. Replace the component:USB Cable
