Removal Procedure

  1. Using the appropriate trim tool, remove both windshield wiper arm finish caps (1) from the windshield wiper arms (3).

  2. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut (2) - Remove [2x]
  3. Use the J - 39822  Wiper Arm Puller to remove the wiper arm (3) from the wiper motor pivot shaft.
  4. Apply two layers of masking tape to the painted surface around the top edge of the air inlet grille panel extensions (1) to prevent paint damage.

    NOTE:

    Quantity of retainers may vary based on option content.

  5. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the air inlet grille panel extension clips.
  6. Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension (1) - Remove [2x]
  7. Hood Rear Outer Air Inlet Seal Retainers (1) - Remove [2x]

  8. Hood Rear Outer Air Inlet Seal (2) - Remove [2x]
  9. Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [8x]

  10. Windshield Washer Nozzle Hose - Disconnect [3x]
  11. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges to remove.
  12. Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

  13. NOTE:

    To prevent erroneous DTC's, disconnect the battery negative cable before disconnecting the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

  14. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  15. Release the retainers.

  16. Windshield Wiper System Module Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  17. Slide the windshield wiper system module (2) inboard to release the grommet from the plenum and flip the windshield wiper system module upside down to gain access to the electrical connector.
  18. Push electrical connector together to unload the latch system. Then using a small pick or small flat bladed tool, lightly pry down and outboard on the locking tab (3) and pull the electrical connector away from the module mating connector. Do NOT attempt to pry anywhere else on the connector body or damage can occur.
  19. Verify the electrical connector and the windshield wiper system module mating connector (3) are not damaged.
  20. Windshield Wiper System Module (2) - Remove
