Circuit / System Testing

  1. Ignition / Vehicle - On
  2. Ensure the Surround Vision System is fully calibrated. Refer to: Surround Vision Camera Calibration (cameras wired to K124 Image Processing Module) , or Surround Vision Camera Calibration (cameras wired to A11 Radio) 
  3. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC is not set 

      All OK.

    • Go to next step: If the DTC sets 
  4. Operate the vehicle under the following conditions:
    • During the day
    • On a straight road
    • Distance Traveled = Greater than 0.5 km (0.3 mi)
  5. Ignition / Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  6. Wait for greater than 60 s.
  7. Ignition / Vehicle - On
  8. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC is not set 

      All OK.

    • Go to next step: If the DTC sets 
    9. NOTE:

    Before testing the coax cable, check the cable's exterior for being pinched, cut, damaged, or having loose connections at the components, all of which can cause reception issues.

  9. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1K124 Image Processing Module and X10A11 Radio.
    10. NOTE:

    Using the EL-52552 COAX FAKRA Cable Adaptor Kit Is critical to performing diagnosis properly.

  10. Locate the appropriate pinout adapter and load test loop adapter from EL-52552 COAX FAKRA Cable Adaptor Kit.
  11. Connect the 2 adapters together, measure and record the resistance between the terminals at the pinout adapter.
  12. Disconnect the 2 adapters and connect each one to the appropriate end of the coax cable.
  13. At the pinout adapter test terminals, measure the total resistance of the coax cable loop including the connected load test adapter.
    • If not within 5 Ω of the reading from step 10. 

      Replace the coax cable

    • Go to next step: If within 5 Ω of the reading from step 10. 
    14. NOTE:

    Intermittent camera issues including blue or black screens, history DTCs, etc. can be caused by defective coax cables or coax cable connections. Inspect coax cables and connections for issues before replacing related control modules.

  14. Replace the K124 Image Processing Module.
  15. Ensure the Surround Vision System is fully calibrated. Refer to: Surround Vision Camera Calibration (cameras wired to K124 Image Processing Module) , or Surround Vision Camera Calibration (cameras wired to A11 Radio) 
  16. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC is not set 

      All OK.

    • Go to next step: If the DTC sets 
  17. Test or replace the component: A11 Radio
