Test 65A - Headlight Doors Will Not Open For Flash To Pass
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 1 from fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 5). If fuse is blown, disconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 21 (Light Green/White wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDUREVER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Red connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Check resistance on terminal No. 21 (Red/Orange wire) of BCM Red connector.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Orange wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDUREVER-1.
- If fuse was okay in step 1), reinstall fuse. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Red connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- While holding multifunction control lever in high beam position, use DRB-II to check voltage on terminal No. 21 (Red/Orange wire) of BCM Red connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, disconnect multifunction switch connector. See Figure .
- Check voltage on terminal No. 21 (Light Green/White wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 9). If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove fuse No. 1 from fuse block. Check voltage of Red/White wire terminal (in fuse block) of fuse No. 1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Light Green/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage was more than 10 volts in step 7), reconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. While holding multifunction control lever in high beam position, backprobe terminal No. 20 (Red/Orange wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Red/Orange wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
NOTE:
A break in TEST sequence occurs at this point. Diagnostic TEST 66A through TEST 68C are related to automatic load leveling air suspension system. See appropriate article in the SUSPENSION Section.
