Test 79B - Washer Pump Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Push washer button on multifunction switch lever. If washer pump does not operate, go to step 4). If washer pump operates, turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel.
  2. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. While pushing washer button on multifunction switch lever, check voltage on terminal No. 5 (Brown wire) of BCM Black connector.
  3. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If washer pump did not operate in step 1), disconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If connector condition is okay, reconnect multifunction switch 24-pin connector. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition on (engine off). While pushing washer button on multifunction switch lever, backprobe terminal No. 3 (Brown wire) of multifunction switch 24-pin connector.
  6. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair or replace wiper motor as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
