Skis Test 1A - Identifying Smart Key Immobilizer System (Skis) Problems

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure that all customer's vehicle keys are present before beginning diagnosis and repair of SKIS. Ensure battery is fully charged. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, then SKIM. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS  .
  2. Using scan tool, read and record SKIM DTCs. Erase the DTCs. Cycle ignition off, and then on. Allow ignition to be on for at least 90 seconds before retrieving DTCs. Read SKIM DTCs. Go to the CURRENT SKIM DTCS DISPLAYED table. If no DTCs are present, refer to the PRE-EXISTING SKIM DTCS DISPLAYED table.

(1) Replace smart key immobolizer module. Perform SKIM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE  .
(2) For PCM EEPROM fault diagnosis, see TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Go to SKIS TEST 4A  .
(3) When attempting to send secret key to PCM.
