Exterior Light Test 3A - Headlight Time Delay Does Not Function

NOTE: Perform EXTERIOR LIGHT TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate headlight relay. If headlights toggle on and off, go to next step. If headlights do not toggle on and off, go to step 3).
  2. Stop actuation of headlight relay and turn headlight switch to ON position. Using scan tool, read low beam sense status. Turn headlight switch OFF, and then to ON position. If scan tool displays LOW BEAM SENSE: OFF and then LOW BEAM SENSE: ON, replace BCM. If scan tool display does not match headlight switch positions, replace junction block.
  3. Using scan tool, stop headlight relay actuation. Replace headlight delay relay with known good relay. Using scan tool, actuate headlight relay. If headlights toggle on and off, replace relay. If headlights do not toggle on and off, go to next step.
  4. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 on headlight delay relay socket. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block.
  5. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 on headlight delay relay socket. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block.
  6. Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 5 on headlight delay relay socket. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If headlights illuminate, replace BCM. If headlights do not illuminate, replace junction block.
