Skis Test 9A - Serial Link External Failure
NOTE:
Perform SKIS TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, erase SKIM DTCs. Attempt another secret key transfer to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If scan tool displays SERIAL LINK EXTERNAL DTC, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SERIAL LINK EXTERNAL DTC, system is currently operating correctly.
- Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, then SKIM. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select BODY, then BODY COMPUTER. Select SYSTEM TEST, then PCM MONITOR. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS .
- Using scan tool, select ENGINE, then read DTCs. If scan tool displays any PCM related DTCs, see TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If scan tool does not display any PCM related DTCs, replace smart key immobilizer module. Perform SKIM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE .
