Using Scan Tool

  1. Ensure battery is fully charged. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) table for connector location and number of connections required. Some models require more than one connection to retrieve diagnostic information. See Fig 1 .

    (1) Requires one connection at 16-pin DLC.

  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool manufacturer's instructions, record all DTCs displayed on scan tool. Using all DTCs obtained, proceed to SELF-DIAGNOSTICS TESTS  . Once all repairs are made, ensure DTCs are cleared from PCM. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  .
