Test NTC-11: Checking Map Sensor Calibration

NOTE: Possible cause is Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor defective.

Turn ignition off. Tee a vacuum gauge to a manifold vacuum source. Start engine and idle. If engine will not idle, maintain a constant RPM above idle. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor vacuum. If reading is within one in. Hg of vacuum gauge, test is complete. If reading is not within one in. Hg of vacuum gauge, replace MAP sensor. See MAP SENSOR LOCATION  table. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST FOR NON-OBD II  .

2.0L Intake Manifold Next To PCV Valve
2.4L (1) Outside Bottom Of Intake Manifold
2.5L (1) Rear Of Intake Manifold (Transmission End Of Engine) Nearest To Rear Of Vehicle
(1) MAP sensor is bolted to intake manifold with 2 bolts.
