Test NTC-9: Checking IAT Sensor

NOTE: Possible cause is IAT sensor defective.

Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, observe Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and record reading. Turn ignition off. Remove Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. See MAP SENSOR LOCATION  table. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Using a temperature probe, measure temperature inside MAP sensor opening. If scan tool IAT reading is within 10°F (-12°C) of temperature probe reading, test is complete. If scan tool IAT reading is not within 10°F (-12°C) of temperature probe reading, replace IAT sensor. See IAT SENSOR LOCATION  table. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST FOR NON-OBD II  .

Application Location
2.0L Intake Manifold Next To PCV Valve
2.4L (1) Outside Bottom Of Intake Manifold
2.5L (1) Rear Of Intake Manifold (Transmission End Of Engine) Nearest To Rear Of Vehicle
(1) MAP sensor is bolted to intake manifold with 2 bolts.

Application Location
2.0L Intake Manifold Next To PCV Valve
2.4L (1) Inside Bottom Of Intake Manifold
2.5L (1) Rear Of Intake Manifold (Transmission End Of Engine) Nearest To Front Of Vehicle
(1) IAT sensor is threaded into intake manifold.
