VTSS Indicator Lamp Stays On

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If communication was established, go to next step. If communication was not established, repair communication concern. See NO RESPONSE FROM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCI BUS)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  2. Using scan tool, check decklid cylinder switch status. If PRESENT is displayed, go to next step. If PRESENT is not displayed, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C2. Turn ignition on. If VTSS indicator is not still illuminated, replace BCM. If VTSS indicator is still illuminated, repair short to ground in Black/Orange wire between sun sensor/VTSS indicator and BCM.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect trunk knock out switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) at trunk knock out switch harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between trunk knock out switch and ground.
  5. Using a fused jumper wire, connected terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Violet/Yellow wire) at trunk knock out switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check decklid cylinder switch status. If PRESENT is not displayed, go to next step. If PRESENT is displayed, replace decklid knock out switch.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C4. Measure resistance in Violet/Yellow wire between terminal No. 2 at trunk knock out switch harness connector and terminal No. 8 at BCM harness connector C4. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Yellow wire between trunk knock out switch and BCM.
