Dimming Level Switch Input Failure

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase all Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Using scan tool, activate dimming level switch and recheck for DTCs. If scan tool does not display DIMMING LEVEL SWITCH INPUT FAILURE, perform wiggle test on related wiring harness and retest system. If scan tool displays DIMMING LEVEL SWITCH INPUT FAILURE, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect junction block C10 6-pin connector. See Figure Cycle ignition off then on. If courtesy and door lights do not turn on, check for open circuit in dimming level switch input circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If courtesy and door lights do turn on, go to next step.
  3. Reconnect junction block C10 connector. Turn all overhead, map and vanity lights off. If any light remains illuminated, check for short to voltage in courtesy light driver circuit. If no lights remain illuminated, go to next step.
  4. Turn all overhead, map and vanity lights on. If any light fails to illuminate, check for short to ground in that circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If all lights illuminate, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block C10 6-pin connector. Remove BCM from junction block. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 9 at BCM-to-junction block 12-pin connector. See Figure . If any voltage is present, replace dimmer switch. If no voltage is present, replace BCM.
