Dome Lamp Output Short
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn dome lights on. Recheck for DTCs. If DOME LAMP OUTPUT SHORT resets, go to next step. If DOME LAMP OUTPUT SHORT does not reset, repair short in Orange/Brown wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 12 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 30. See Figure and Figure .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect headlight switch connector. For removal & installation procedures to access connector, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and headlight switch connector terminal No. 6 (White/Yellow wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Yellow wire.
- Disconnect BCM connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 25 (Yellow/Orange wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair short in Yellow/Orange wire between dome light and BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
