Dome Switch Input Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn dome lights on. Recheck for DTCs. If DOME SWITCH INPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If DOME SWITCH INPUT OPEN does not reset, check for intermittent open, short to voltage or poor connection in White/Yellow wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 6 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 30 and repair as necessary. See Figure and Figure .
  2. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . See Figure . Disconnect headlight switch connector. For removal and installation procedures to access connector, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange/Brown wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 12 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 30. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Brown wire.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Brown wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 11 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 18. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Brown wire.
  4. Reconnect headlight switch connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 18 (White/Brown wire). If voltage is 4.8 volts or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is greater than 4.8 volts, replace headlight switch.
