Front Courtesy Lights Output Short
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Turn courtesy lights on. Recheck for DTCs. If FRONT COURTESY LIGHTS OUTPUT SHORT resets, go to next step. If FRONT COURTESY LIGHTS OUTPUT SHORT does not reset, check for intermittent short to ground or poor connection in White/Yellow wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 6 and BCM connector C5 terminals No. 17. See Figure and Figure .
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C5. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure . Disconnect headlight switch connector. For removal & installation procedures to access connector, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and headlight switch connector terminal No. 6 (White/Yellow wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Yellow wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Brown wire between headlight switch connector terminal No. 11 and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 18. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Brown wire.
- Reconnect headlight switch connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C5 terminal No. 18 (White/Brown wire). If voltage is 5 volts or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is greater than 5 volts, replace headlight switch.
