Fan, Cooling: Removal: 3.0L

NOTE:

The dual motor fan blades can be replaced separately from the motor. Single motor fan blades are balanced to the motor and must be replaced as a fan/motor assembly.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector (1).
  3. Raise and support vehicle.
  4. Remove the lower engine covers.

  5. Loosen but do not remove  the radiator lower support bolts.

  6. Disconnect the charge air hose (2) from the charge air tube (1) and position the hose to the side.
  7. Remove the cooling fan mounting bolts.

  8. Lift the radiator fan assembly upward to clear the lower retainers (2).

  9. Tilt the radiator lower support (1) forward, rotate the right side of the fan assembly (3) down.
  10. Carefully slide the assembly out of the vehicle through the gap (2) between the support and the engine cradle.

  11. Remove the fan motor wiring harness (5) from the fan shroud (6).
  12. Remove the fan blade (4) from the fan motor.
  13. Remove the bolts (2) that secure the fan motor to the shroud.
