Fan, Cooling: Removal: 3.0L
NOTE:
The dual motor fan blades can be replaced separately from the motor. Single motor fan blades are balanced to the motor and must be replaced as a fan/motor assembly.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector (1).
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove the lower engine covers.
- Loosen but do not remove the radiator lower support bolts.
- Disconnect the charge air hose (2) from the charge air tube (1) and position the hose to the side.
- Remove the cooling fan mounting bolts.
- Lift the radiator fan assembly upward to clear the lower retainers (2).
- Tilt the radiator lower support (1) forward, rotate the right side of the fan assembly (3) down.
- Carefully slide the assembly out of the vehicle through the gap (2) between the support and the engine cradle.
- Remove the fan motor wiring harness (5) from the fan shroud (6).
- Remove the fan blade (4) from the fan motor.
- Remove the bolts (2) that secure the fan motor to the shroud.
