Sensor, Coolant Temperature: Removal: 3.6L

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor on the 3.6L engine is installed into a water jacket at rear of the cylinder head on the left side of the engine.

WARNING:

Hot, pressurized coolant can cause injury by scalding. Cooling system must be partially drained before removing the coolant temperature sensor.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING  .
  4. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor wire harness connector.
  5. Remove the coolant temperature sensor from the cylinder head.
