Module Programming: Pcm
RU and RU-PHEV
This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:
- A Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been replaced.
- Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1602 - PCM Not Programmed is set.
- An updated calibration or software release is available for either the PCM or Transmission Control Module (TCM).
This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection and that the PIN has been obtained in order to program the PCM. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.
Programming Procedure - Using the scan tool:
- Verify that the scan tool operating software is programmed with the latest software release.
- Flash the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- From the "Home" screen, select "ECU View"
- Select "PCM"
- Select "Misc functions"
- Select "Check PCM VIN" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
- Navigate back to the home screen and select the Body Control Module (BCM).
- Select the "Misc Functions" menu.
- Run the "Immobilizer ECU Replace" routine.
- From the "Home" screen, select "ECU View"
- Navigate back to the home screen and select "PCM"
- Select "Misc functions"
- Select "Learn ETC" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
- For PHEV models, select the "TLC Learn" procedure under PCM Miscellaneous Menu Option and follow the on screen instructions.
- Select "Check PCM Odometer" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
- Perform the "Brake Pedal Learn" procedure as follows:
- Park the vehicle on level ground.NOTE:
When performing the Brake Pedal Calibration Learn routine, be certain the brake pedal is NOT pressed.
NOTE:Not all PCMs support the Brake Pedal Learn. If the PCM supports it the routine will be available.
- With the scan tool, under the PCM "Miscellaneous Functions" menu, select and run the "Brake Pedal Learn" routine.
- Park the vehicle on level ground.
Once the PCM process has been completed navigate back to the home screen and view "ALL DTC's", ensure that all DTC's that may have set are showing stored, if they are all stored select "Clear All Stored DTC's". Cycle the ignition to the off position and then back on and verify all DTC's are gone. At this point the process is complete.
