Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR ACTIVE INTERNAL FAULTS, IGNITION FAULTS, AND BATTERY FAULTS IN THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs.
Does the scan tool display any active DTCs relating to internal faults, ignition faults, or battery faults?
Yes
- Diagnose and repair the DTCs. Refer to OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC), DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 2
- With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs.
- VERIFY THAT DTC IS ACTIVE
- With the scan tool, erase ORC DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds and then turn the ignition on.
- Wait 2 minutes, and then with the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Does the scan tool display active: B2734-95-PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR-INCORRECT ASSEMBLY?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- VERIFY SENSORS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the Passenger seat wiring for Seat Position Sensors.
Are Seat Position Sensor present?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) in accordance with Service Information. Refer to CONTROLLER, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT (ORC), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- VERIFY ORC PART NUMBER AND CONFIGURATION
- With the scan tool verify the ORC part number and configuration.
Is the ORC part number and configuration correct?
Yes
- Disconnect the Occupant Detection Sensor connector and tie wrap the connector to the wire harness.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair complete.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- With the scan tool verify the ORC part number and configuration.
