Windshield Wiper Test 2B - Wipers Not Working At All
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Stop wiper motor actuation. Using scan tool, read intermittent wiper voltage. If scan tool does not display INTRMT WIPE: 0.0-3.0V, go to next step. If scan tool displays INTRMT WIPE: 3.1V or greater, repair open ground circuit between Body Control Module (BCM) and multi-function switch.
- Disconnect multifunction switch 12-pin connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 4B. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage at terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on multifunction switch connector. If voltage is more than 3 volts, replace multifunction switch. If voltage is 3 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on multifunction switch connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair Dark Green/Yellow wire for short to ground. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 7 on BCM connector "A". Measure resistance at terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on multifunction switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire between multifunction switch connector and BCM.
