Test TC-130A - Left Downstream O2 Sensor Stays At Center
NOTE:
For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION DIRECTORY table. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.3L
article.
NOTE:
Vehicle is equipped with left and right downstream O2 sensor.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read left downstream O2 sensor voltage for a few minutes. Wait for voltage reading to stabilize between .4 and .6 volt. Using scan tool, actuate O2 sensor heater test. Monitor left downstream O2 sensor voltage for 2 minutes. If left downstream O2 sensor voltage is still between .4 and .6 volt, go to step 4. If left downstream O2 sensor voltage is not between .4 and .6 volt, go to next step.
- Stop O2 sensor heater test. Turn ignition off. Disconnect left downstream O2 sensor harness connector. Inspect connectors. If any terminal is corroded, damaged, pushed out or miswired, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A . If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Inspect connectors. If any terminal is corroded, damaged, pushed out or miswired, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A . If connectors are okay, replace left downstream O2 sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A .
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and sensor ground circuit at left downstream O2 sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in sensor ground circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A .
- Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Inspect connectors. If any terminal is corroded, damaged, pushed out or miswired, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A . If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of signal circuit (Tan/White wire) between left downstream O2 sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and PCM harness connector C2 terminal No. 51. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in signal circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A .
- Reconnect PCM harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Connect a jumper wire between signal circuit at left downstream harness connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/White wire) and sensor ground circuit at left downstream harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire). Using scan tool, read left downstream O2 sensor voltage. If voltage is less than .2 volt, replace left downstream O2 sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A . If voltage is .2 volt or more, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-5A .
