Test NTC-7A - Checking Throttle Position Sensor Calibration

  1. Turn ignition off. Check throttle cable, cruise control cable (if equipped) and throttle valve on throttle body for binding. If no binding exist, go to next step. If binding exist, repair or replace components as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2A - ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read throttle position sensor voltage. Ensure throttle is fully closed and against throttle stop when reading throttle position sensor voltage.
  3. If throttle position sensor voltage is 1.5 volts or less with throttle closed, go to next step. If throttle position sensor voltage is more than 1.5 volts with throttle closed, replace throttle position sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A - ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
  4. Observe throttle position sensor voltage on scan tool while slowly opening throttle to wide open position. If throttle position sensor voltage changes smoothly while opening throttle, go to next step. If throttle position sensor voltage does not change smoothly while opening throttle, replace throttle position sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A - ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
  5. Note maximum throttle position sensor voltage at wide open throttle. If maximum throttle position sensor voltage is at least 3.4 volts at wide open throttle, throttle position sensor is operating properly. Test is complete. If maximum throttle position sensor voltage is not at least 3.4 volts at wide open throttle, replace throttle position sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A - ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
