Fuel Pump Relay

The fuel pump relay supplies battery voltage to fuel pump. A buss bar in Power Distribution Center (PDC) supplies voltage to solenoid side and contact side of relay. The fuel pump relay power circuit contains a fuse between buss bar in PDC and relay. The fuse also protects power circuit for Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay. The fuse is located in PDC.

The PCM controls fuel pump relay by switching ground path for solenoid side of relay on and off. The PCM turns ground path off when ignition switch is in Off position. When ignition switch is in On position, PCM energizes fuel pump. If crankshaft position sensor does not detect engine rotation, PCM de-energizes relay after approximately one second.
