Module, Fuel Pump: Removal

  1. Remove the drivers seat inner frame cover (1).

  2. Remove the carpet cover (1) to gain access to the fuel pump module.
  3. Remove the fuel pump module access cover (1).

  4. Disconnect electrical connector (4) from fuel pump module.
  5. Disconnect the fuel line quick connects from fuel pump module.
    CAUTION:

    Clean the area around fuel pump module prior to removal. Make sure this area is free of dirt. Failure to clean fuel pump area prior to removal may cause dirt to get into the fuel system causing damage to the fuel system or engine.

  6. Clean the area around fuel pump module with suitable cleaner and dry with low pressure filtered compressed air.

  7. Install fuel pump module lock ring tool (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) (1) and turn counter-clockwise to remove the fuel pump module lock ring (2).
  8. Remove the fuel pump module as an assembly from the fuel tank.
