Barometric Pressure Sensor: Description and Operation

The Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor is a semi-conductive diffusion type of sensor, and senses the altitude at which the vehicle is running. The BARO sensor is installed within the Air filter housing along with the Air Flow Sensor. As the vehicle climbs in elevation the voltage return signals are used by the Control Unit in order to make precise adjustments to the fuel injector pulse width and to the ignition timing, thus improving driveability at high altitudes.
