Purge Control Valve

  1. Purge control valve is located near EVAP canister. See Figure . Remove purge control valve.
  2. Connect vacuum pump to vacuum port at bottom of purge control valve. See Fig 1 . Apply 16 in. Hg of vacuum on purge control valve. Ensure vacuum can be maintained. Release vacuum and go to next step.
  3. Lightly apply air pressure on top of purge control valve at the side from EVAP canister. See Fig 1 .
  4. With no vacuum applied, air should not pass through purge control valve. Apply at least 8 in. Hg of vacuum on purge control valve. Air should now pass through purge control valve. Remove vacuum pump from vacuum port.
  5. Connect vacuum pump to positive pressure port on purge control valve. See Fig 1 . Apply 16 in. Hg of vacuum to positive pressure port. Ensure vacuum can be maintained. Replace purge control valve if operation is not as specified.
