Purge Control Valve
- Purge control valve is located near EVAP canister. See Figure
. Remove purge control valve.
- Connect vacuum pump to vacuum port at bottom of purge control valve. See Fig 1
. Apply 16 in. Hg of vacuum on purge control valve. Ensure vacuum can be maintained. Release vacuum and go to next step.
- Lightly apply air pressure on top of purge control valve at the side from EVAP canister. See Fig 1
.
- With no vacuum applied, air should not pass through purge control valve. Apply at least 8 in. Hg of vacuum on purge control valve. Air should now pass through purge control valve. Remove vacuum pump from vacuum port.
- Connect vacuum pump to positive pressure port on purge control valve. See Fig 1
. Apply 16 in. Hg of vacuum to positive pressure port. Ensure vacuum can be maintained. Replace purge control valve if operation is not as specified.
