Diagnostic Test
- CHECK THE CHARGE PORT PROXIMITY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Charge Port harness connector from the OBCM.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the Charge Port Proximity circuit at the OBCM Charge Port harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5k Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Charge Port harness in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK EVSE CHARGING CAPABILITY
- Reconnect the OBCM Charge Port harness connector.
- Connect the customers EVSE charging unit to the vehicle. Using the Scan Tool, Monitor the AC output and the Proximity Signal Value.
Is the EVSE charging unit operating correctly?
Yes
- Advise the customer that the problem may be with their power source connection for the EVSE charging unit.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK EVSE CHARGING UNIT
- Refer to the EVSE User manual information and follow the troubleshooting guide to determine if the problem is with the EVSE charging unit or the vehicle.
- Using the Scan Tool, Monitor the AC output.
Is the EVSE charging unit operating correctly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the EVSE charging unit in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- ON-BOARD CHARGING MODULE
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the connectors at the Charge Port connector and the On-Board Charging Module (OBCM).
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Replace the On-Board Charging Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, ON-BOARD CHARGING (OBCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
