Diagnostic Test
CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM)
Repair
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Check for any Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace and program the Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCM) in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
- CHECK THE LEVER SWITCH 1 SENSOR CIRCUIT(S)
- Check the lever switch 1 sensor circuit(s) for an open, high resistance, or short to ground.
Was a problem found with the lever switch 1 sensor circuit(s)?
Yes
- Repair the lever switch 1 sensor circuit(s) for an open, high resistance, or short to ground.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .

- Replace the lever switch 1 sensor. Clear DTC and retest.
- If DTC resets, and using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out.
- Check the lever switch 1 sensor circuit(s) for a short to voltage.
- CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
- Check for any Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were there any problems found?
