Diagnostic Test
TPM SENSOR REPLACEMENT
The purpose of this test is to confirm in a quick and safe method that all TPM sensors are functioning correctly by viewing the TPM Display screen on the Instrument Panel while driving. The scan tool is not needed while driving. In order to prepare for the test to display "- -" (dashes) instead of pressure values, the sensor IDs must be changed in the RF HUB. Rewriting the same IDs at the same locations will not change the display to dashes. False IDs must be written into the RF HUB first for the dashes to display, and then the correct IDs are written into the RF HUB at the correct positions, followed by a test drive.
- With the scan tool, write false IDs into each of the sensors locations in the RF HUB as follows: Sensor 1 = 11111111, Sensor 2 = 22222222, Sensor 3 = 33333333, Sensor 4 = 44444444, and if dually vehicle Sensor 6 = 66666666, Sensor 7 = 77777777). This will cause the TPM display pressure values to go to dashes on the TPM display of the Cluster.
- Write the correct recorded IDs into the RF HUB using the scan tool. DO NOT CLEAR DTCs at this time.
- It is important to turn the ignition off and then back on after writing the correct IDs. Drive the vehicle above 15 mph (25kph) until all of the dashes update with the actual pressure values and no TPM warnings. They should update quickly (less than 1 mile) but could take up to 20 minutes.
