Pinpoint Test F - Wipers Run With Switch Off

  1. Inspect fuses, connections, and wiring. If all are okay, go to next step. Repair any obvious defects.
  2. Connect NGS tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Retrieve continuous DTC's. Perform ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST. If no DTC exists, go to next step. If DTC B1431 self-test and continuous, and DTC's B1446, B1476, and B1473 self-test exist, repair shorted White wire between GEM and run relay, located on left fender apron. If DTC B1441 and B1467 self-test exist, repair shorted Light Blue/Orange wire between wiper switch and GEM. If DTC's B1448, B1473, B1446, and B1476 self-test exist, repair open Black wire between wiper motor and GEM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If DTC B1467 self-test and continuous, and DTC B1446 self-test exists, temporarily substitute with a known good run relay, then retest system.
  3. Turn wipers off. Read PID WASH-SW. If NGS tester indicates switch is off, inspect for short to voltage on Dark Blue/Orange or White wire between HI-LO relay and wiper motor. If wires are okay, test wiper switch. See WIPER SWITCH  under TESTING. Replace switch as necessary.
