Differential Electronic Module (DEM): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Montego, 2006 Ford Freestyle, and 2006 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE:
    1. If installing a new DEM, install a new solenoid valve.
    2. Coat the new oil pressure/temperature sensor seal with Volvo transmission oil.
    3. Install the concave side of the washer facing downward.

  1. Assemble the DEM as shown.
  2. Install the DEM upper bolt and the DEM in the active on-demand coupling cover. Then install the DEM lower bolt.
    • Tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb-in).

  3. Connect the DEM electrical connectors.
  4. Verify the fluid level in the DEM.
