Valve Cover LH: Installation

- Clean and inspect the mating surfaces of the cylinder head.
- Apply sealant in the two places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.
- Position the valve cover and the valve cover gasket on the cylinder head and loosely install the bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Position the wiring harness and install the bolts at the front and rear wiring harness brackets.
- Install the throttle cable clamp bolt.
- Connect the five LH ignition coil electrical connectors.
- Position the oil level indicator tube.
- Install the bolt attaching the oil level indicator tube to the rear of the engine.
- Install the nut attaching the oil level indicator tube to the front of the engine.
- Connect the crankcase vent tube to the valve cover.
- Install the engine air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the cylinder head. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
NOTE:
If not secured within four minutes, sealant must be removed and the sealant area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
NOTE:
If equipped with rear auxiliary heat, the valve cover can be installed from the front of the vehicle.
