Rocker Arm Cover, Rocker Arm And Push Rod: Installation

- Place the steel ball in the rocker arm cup and lubricate with clean engine oil.
- Place the rocker arm pedestal on the steel ball, and on the rocker arm.
- Snap the retaining clip over the rocker arm pedestal groove.
- Lubricate the push rod ends with engine oil and install the push rod, copper end up.
- Rotate the engine until the mark on the crankshaft damper is at 11 o'clock, to prevent damage when installing the intake rocker arm and exhaust rocker arm.
- Install the eight push rods, the eight rocker arms and the 16 rocker arm bolts.
- Install the valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - RIGHT or VALVE COVER LH .
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Install the left-hand engine mount insulator.
- Using the special tool, raise the engine until the engine mount insulator can be positioned.
- Install the insulator to bracket mounts.
- Lower the engine and install the engine mount retaining nuts.
- Tighten the right-hand engine mount retaining nuts to specification.
- Remove the special tool and lower the vehicle.
- Connect the AC compressor electrical connector.
CAUTION:
Make sure to follow the next step of this procedure to prevent bent valves.
NOTE:
Both the left and right side rocker arms and push rods are installed the same way. Only the left side is shown.
NOTE:
The engine must be raised in order to provide the clearance to install the engine mount isolator.
