Pinpoint Test O: DTC B2351- Steering Column Switch Signal Circuit Failure

CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.

O1 CHECK THE STEERING COLUMN POSITION PIDS

Monitor the corresponding ICM PIDs while actuating the tilt/telescope switch in the following positions:
- tilt
  - UP
  - DOWN
- telescope
  - IN
  - OUT
- neutral
Do the PIDs match with each of the corresponding tilt/telescope switch positions?

Yes

GO to O4.

GO to O2.

O2 CHECK THE TILT MOTOR PID

Monitor the tilt motor PIDs while actuating the tilt/telescope switch in the tilt UP and tilt DOWN positions.
Does the tilt PID read UP with the switch in the up position and DOWN with the switch in the down position and OFF with the switch in the neutral position?

Yes

GO to O3.

INSTALL a new tilt/telescope switch. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.

O3 CHECK THE STEERING COLUMN TELESCOPE MOTOR PID

Actuate the tilt/telescope switch in the telescope IN and telescope OUT positions while monitoring the telescope motor PIDs
Does the telescope PID read IN with the switch in the IN position and OUT with the switch in the OUT position and OFF with the switch in the neutral position?

Yes

REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B2351 is retrieved, INSTALL a new ICM. REFER to INFORMATION, GAUGES & WARNING DEVICES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

INSTALL a new tilt/telescope switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

O4 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-AL10 (WH) AND 9-AL10 (BN) FOR A SHORT TO POWER

Measure the voltage between tilt/telescope switch C2250-2, circuit 8-AL10 (WH) and ground and tilt/telescope switch C2250-2, circuit 9-AL10 (BN) and ground.
Is voltage present?

Yes

REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

GO to O5.

O5 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-AL10 (WH) AND 9-AL10 (BN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

Measure the resistance between tilt/telescope switch C2250-1, circuit 8-AL10 (WH) and ground and tilt/telescope switch C2250-2, circuit 9-AL10 (BN) and ground.
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes

GO to O6.

REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

O6 CHECK CIRCUIT 8-AL10 (WH) AND 9-AL10 (BN) FOR AN OPEN

Measure the resistance between tilt/telescope switch C2250-1, circuit 8-AL10 (WH), harness side and ICM C220c-15, circuit 8-AL10 (WH).
Measure the resistance between tilt/telescope switch C2250-2, circuit 9-AL10 (BN) harness side and ICM C220C-3, circuit 9-AL10 (BN).
Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

Yes

INSTALL a new ICM. REFER to INFORMATION, GAUGES & WARNING DEVICES . REPEAT the self-test.

REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
