Pinpoint Test K: No Security Id Exchange Between Passive Anti-Theft (Pats) Module And Powertrain Control Module (Pcm)
- K1 RETRIEVE THE DTCS
- Key in OFF position.
- Retrieve and document continuous DTCs.
- Clear all continuous DTCs.
- Key OFF then key ON and retrieve continuous DTCs.
- Are any DTCs retrieved?
- Yes
: If DTC B2141 only is retrieved, GO to K2.
If DTC U1147 is retrieved with DTC B2141, GO to PINPOINT TEST L .
- No : System is OK.
- K2 CARRY OUT KEEP ALIVE MEMORY RESET FROM PCM
- For all engines except diesel : Use diagnostic card for PCM Active Command Keep Alive Memory Reset. For diesel engine only : Disconnect the battery for at least one minute to clear the PCM Keep Alive Memory. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Key in OFF position.
- Key in ON position.
Leave key on for 30 seconds.
- Key in OFF position.
Start vehicle.
- Does the vehicle start?
- Yes : System is OK.
- No : GO to K3.
- K3 RETRIEVE THE PATS DTCS
- Clear the continuous PATS DTCs.
- Key in OFF position.
- Key in ON position.
- Key in OFF position.
- Carry out the PATS On-Demand Self-Test.
- Is DTC B2141 retrieved?
- Yes : REPEAT test step K2. If the fault persists, verify the PCM calibration. If the calibration is OK, INSTALL a new PATS module. REFER to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) MODULE in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If the concern still exists, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : System is OK.
