Normal Operation - Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM)

The Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) continuously monitors the input voltage for correct operation. If the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) detects input voltage below 8 volts, it stores Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 in memory. If the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) detects input voltage above 18 volts, it stores Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17 in memory. If the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) sets Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or U3003:17, it sends a fault message to the Restraints Control Module (RCM). The Restraints Control Module (RCM) then sends a message to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to illuminate the air bag warning indicator.

DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the Restraints Control Module (RCM) detects voltage below 9.5 volts with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault.
U3003:17 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the Restraints Control Module (RCM) detects voltage above 16 volts with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault or above 20 volts without a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault.
U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) detects voltage below 8 volts with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault.
U3003:17 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) detects voltage above 18 volts.
