Diagnostic Aids

For DTC U3000:41, the PSCM will remove steering assist, enter into a manual mode and transmit an invalid steering angle message over the HS-CAN bus. The module will also send a message to the instrument cluster to display the POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT message in the message center.

For DTC U3000:46, initially the PSCM sets the steering assist to a default level and may set DTC U2100:00. If DTC U3000:46 returns on the next ignition cycle the PSCM removes steering assist. The EPAS system enters manual steering mode and POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT is displayed in the message center.

For DTC U3000:49, the presence of this DTC may or may not affect steering assist. It will depend on what other DTCs (if any) are set along with U3000:49. Diagnose all other DTCs before diagnosing U3000:49.

For DTC U3000:61, the PSCM removes steering assist, the EPAS system enters manual steering mode and an invalid steering angle message is transmitted over the HS-CAN. The PSCM sends a message to the IPC to display POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT in the message center.

For DTC U3000:72, this DTC indicates that a specific internal relay is either stuck open or has excessive resistance. In cold climates or climates where frost is possible, the relay contacts could develop a layer of frost which may prevent a clean connection between the contacts. It may be necessary to allow the vehicle to remain outside overnight in a cold climate to duplicate the DTC trigger conditions. If DTC U3000:72 sets again on subsequent ignition cycles the PSCM removes steering assist and the EPAS system enters manual steering mode. The PSCM sends a message to the IPC to display POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT in the message center.

For DTC U3000:96 POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT is displayed in the message center. DTC U3000:96 cannot be cleared using the scan tool, to clear this DTC follow the pinpoint test instructions. Steering assist may or may not be removed when this DTC sets based on the failure condition that caused this DTC to set.
