Normal Operation

The PSCM communicates with the diagnostic scan tool and other module through the HS-CAN.

If the PSCM cannot communicate with the diagnostic scan tool or other modules, the EPAS system defaults to a pre-determined vehicle speed setting and the customer may experience a lack of assist or a heavy steering feel.

This test generates a RVC for a new PSCM when directed to do so from a appropriate pinpoint test.

  1. AF1: CONFIRM PSCM REPLACEMENT WAS DIRECTED BY A APPROPRIATE TEST

Did a pinpoint test in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK -- (ELECTRIC) direct to install a new PSCM?

    Yes No
INSTALL a new EPAS gear. REFER to Steering Gear  . Go to AF2.
  2. AF2: CHECK FOR CORRECT PSCM OPERATION

    Ignition OFF.

    PSCM-B connector disconnected. (C1463B)

    • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
    • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary.

    Repair the connectors as necessary

Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    Yes No
INSTALL a new EPAS column. REFER to STEERING COLUMN . The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
