Transmission Range (TR) Sensor: Installation
- Install the TR sensor and the park pawl actuator rod and connect the electrical connector.
- Install the manual control lever shaft.
- Install the manual shaft retaining pin.
Use the General Equipment: Punch
- Install theTR sensor detent spring and the bolt.
Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
- Lubricate a new manual control lever shaft seal with clean transmission fluid and install the manual control lever shaft seal on the manual control lever shaft.
Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (MERCON® LV) (WSS-M2C938-A)
- Using the special tool, install the manual control lever shaft seal.
Use Special Service Tool: 307-694 Installer, Manual Lever Seal.
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Use the General Equipment: Plastic Scraper
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
- Apply silicone to the transmission case assembly.
Material: Motorcraft® Ultra Silicone Sealant /TA-29
- Install the transmission case end cover assembly and the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the manual control lever and the nut.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
- Install the transmission.

NOTE:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs, or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.
