| 1 | Rear Drive Unit (RDU) configuration information |
The AWD rear drive unit (RDU) has left and right clutch matching values needed to match the RDU to the AWD module pin stamped on the RDU to the left of the hydraulic pump motor. The AWD module uses this information to match the left and right clutches in regard to hydraulic pressure and torque. If the stamped information does not match the programmed AWD module information, driveline damage or driveability concerns can occur and a DTC may set in the AWD module. Therefore, if the AWD module is replaced, the new AWD module must be configured with the existing Active Torque Coupling (ATC) information. The inhale/exhale function in IDS can be used to transfer AWD clutch matching values from a suspect AWD module to a new AWD module. If the suspect AWD module does not respond to the inhale/exhale function, the 20 digit alpha numeric information can be programed to the new AWD module manually with IDS. If the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) is replaced, it comes with a new AWD module that is already configured with the Active Torque Coupling (ATC) information.
